Another West Australian venue that’s a welcome addition to the Aussie bar landscape is El Publico, and it is so new the bar floor probably isn’t even dirty yet. By all accounts however, they are serving up some sensational treats and welcoming in the locals.
The food is a fresh and colourful mix with treats like ceviche, green chorizo, pork belly, chilaquiles (a wet dish made from torn tortillas, red salsa and cheese on offer and Perth cocktailian James Connolly is heading up the bar and gave us a bit of an insight into what you can expect.
“We’ll be emphasising the fun, it’ll be tongue-in-cheek,” he said. “The music will be a mix of rock n’ roll, Mexican gangsta-rap etc., there will be a big range of Tequila and Mezcal from the big boys to the lesser known ones – plenty of interesting stuff.”
