In exciting news for tequila fans, Pernod Ricard is bringing their Olmeca Altos brand to Australian shores. Available from July 1, the high quality tequilas were created by Jesús Hernandez with two of the world’s best bartenders — André Masso and the late Henry Besant.
Olmeca Altos Plata and Reposado are high quality Tequilas, made from 100% pure agave and tahona wheel crushed liquid. The piñas are crushed with a two tonne volcanic millstone, drawing out the sweet juice to be fermented. The soil is important to these agaves, growing at high altitude (2100m above sea level) in mineral rich volcanic tierra roja. They are harvested by hand, a process that sacrifices yield but makes for top-quality Tequila.
They have been much talked about overseas and their arrival in Australia will be sure to whet the appetite of tequila fans countrywide.
