With a new name and a renewed dedication to good times for a good cause, the former Parched March is back – as Bars March.
The annual month-long celebration of Sydney’s bars and cocktail culture is now in its fifth year, and for 2014 once again welcomes Suntory as its exclusive partner. Midori, Cointreau, Russian Standard Vodka, Zubrowka, Tia Maria, Licor 43, Disaronno, Pavan, Mount Gay Black Barrel, Mozart and Chartreuse will feature in the Bars March special cocktails sold in over 80 bars across Sydney throughout March. A percentage of the sales of the cocktails goes to the Bars March charity, Animal Welfare League NSW.
“The name change signals our strong commitment to highlighting Sydney’s top quality bars and their talented staff,” said Bars March director Amy Cooper.
“In the current challenging climate for venues in some parts of the city, we wanted to show more clearly than ever that we’re huge supporters of Sydney’s bars. Bars March is all about showcasing the positives of cocktail culture and encouraging responsible enjoyment of great quality drinks.”
The month of fundraising events and activities kicks off with a VIP party at Cafe del Mar on Tuesday 25 February and includes last year’s hit event Mr CBD.
Highlights include:
March 1st 2014: Doggies & Dumplings at Love on Top, 1pm – 4pm. Enjoy Asian delicacies from chef Kenny Kong in the company of your pooch. A green oasis in the middle of Kings Cross is perfect for a party where everyone’s invited to BYO furry friend (if you don’t have a dog, bring a beardy hipster).
March 16th 2014: Puppy Prom at The Alexandria Hotel 1pm-4pm. Think Pretty in Pink, Grease or even Carrie … with four legs! It’s time for prom doggie style as Sydney’s biggest beer garden welcomes everyone and their pooch pals to the waggiest school dance ever. With canine corsages, prom photos, and prizes for talent and looks, this is the prom where no-one’s without a date, because everyone can bring a best friend.
March 20th 2014: Mr CBD at The Argyle top floor 6.30pm- 10pm. It’s back! The annual search for Sydney’s Hottest Man in a Suit returns – with extra sizzle. At this grand finale our six finalists will strut their stuff while the audience bid for dates and to decide the winner.
