Could Brisbane be vying for the title of craft beer capital of Australia? When it comes to watering holes in which to get a good whack of what’s happening in the country’s craft beer scene, the beer lovers of Brisbane are seeing a good number of bars come their way.

The latest to open is coming from the team of Tippler’s Tap. Owners Bryan Kennedy and Emily Russell are opening Tomahawk Bar, on Grey Street in Southbank.

““The concept is to provide a venue that hopefully helps continue to bring exposure to awesome, independent craft beer,” said Kennedy.

“We’ll have a rotating selection on tap that can be enjoyed on premises or taken away in growlers. We’ll have 75 to 100 varieties in bottles, and a modest but thoughtful wine list as well.”

Food will also be a focus at the bar, he said, with Tippler’s chef, Ali Russell, taking on an exec chef role over the two venues.

“The food will be tasty, quick, and created in a way that compliments the often robust flavours of craft beer,” said Kennedy. “We hope to accommodate 80 plus seated patrons in an indoor/outdoor environment that individuals, couples, small and large groups alike will find inviting and comfortable.”

The bar should be open for business come April 1.
