Bars March capped off another successful month-long stint of top Sydney drinking this week, with a VIP and media event at Bondi Junction’s El Topo.
The closing event of the month’s festivities, called Day of the Dog, celebrated the fact that Bars March raised over $30,000 for the Animal Welfare League of NSW.
Guests were treated to top notch cocktails thanks to sponsor Suntory; on offer were Spiced Russian Mules (made with Russian Standard Vodka), Midori Margaritas, a drink called Pedro’s Sour, made with Disaronno, lemon juice and egg white.
Awards were also given out to recognise the great contribution of bars who jumped on the Bars March cause.
The best dog-themed cocktail went to The Alexandria, for their drink 101 Dalmations (for obvious reasons). The Exchange Hotel’s Lily St Cyr won the award for best use of Suntory brands (with Midori, Zubrowka, and Chartreuse in the mix), and El Topo was awarded best adaptation and theming of A Suntory brand into a venue with their Cointreau cocktail El Guacarita. Best in house promo display went to the CBD’s The Barber Shop. Finally, the most generous donation per sale went to The Greengate Hotel for their Licor 43 drink, The Egg Mini — they donated 100 percent of the price of the drink.
