Vanguard Luxury Brands’ portfolio has received yet another boost, with the forthcoming addition of well-respected brands, Tequila Ocho and Del Maguey Mezcals to their list.

Del Maguey took out the best new product award at this year’s Tales of the Cocktail, and Tequila Ocho — produced by founders Carlos Camarena and Tomas Estes — have been bartender favourites in this country since launching a few years back.

Vanguard will take over distribution for both brands from September 15th.

“We at Vanguard are really excited about taking on these excellent brands,” said Vanguard’s James France. “They will complement our agave portfolio perfectly, with Calle 23, Fortaleza and Cabeza on the tequila side of things as well as with Ilegal in the world of mezcal. We look forward to building Ocho and Del Maguey further in Australia. Think Spirits has done a wonderful job in establishing these brands in the market here and we look forward to a smooth transition with them.”

Australian Bartender’s publisher, Dave Spanton, was in Mexico last year and caught up with Camarena and Estes, as well as Del Maguey’s Ron Cooper. Check out the videos with them below.
