Here’s a bar that opened up quietly in October last year, and slowly added to their offering — so much so that over summer, it’s provided Perth with a healthy dose of outdoor eating and drinking.
You could say that The Standard Bar Garden & Kitchen does what it says on the tin, except there’s nothing standard about it.
They’ve got a concise wine list — but you’ll see examples of gewürztraminer, louriero and negroamaro on the list; they’re pushing forward the case for rose, with six bottlings ranging from unfiltered styles to more candied strawberry pinot types.
There’s nothing standard about this wine list, and we like it.
They’re also pushing pitchers of cocktails, which makes a lot of sense when you take into account the plush garden surrounds of the back of the venue. Dressed up with some fairy lights, and with the lights of Perth’s skyscrapers reflecting off the welcoming square front windows, this has got be one of the prettiest venues in the country.
