Cliff Dive & Mary’s team up to do kebabs

Food is a central component of a bar these days, and the guys from Mary’sknow this better than most.

So we’re salivating at the idea of them bringing their skills to Sydney’s The Cliff Dive, and taking a crack at the all time classic partner to a good night’s drinking: the kebab.

“We love The Cliff Dive boys and we love to push ourselves,” said Mary’s Jake Smyth in a statement today. “The kitchen is tiny and super hot, it’s tight and tough. The kebabs are hopefully the same, hold the small part. They won’t be super-traditional, but we will draw influence from the “3am drunk fat man” kebab that we all love.”

The idea is to do kebabs differently, and they’re likely to include flavours like “smoked chicken, Lebanese pickles and garlic sauce, devil pork curry, mango pickle and sorrel yoghurt, slow roasted lamb neck with XO sauce and pickled turnip stalks.”

Food has been more of a focus for The Cliff Dive, particularly since Sydney’s lockout laws have come into effect.

“We are so excited to have these legends crammed into the tiny kitchen in our nightclub, it has been a real meeting of minds,” said The Cliff Dive’s Jeremy Blackmore.

“The boys were our first and last choice and we are so happy that they agreed to come on board.”

You’ll be able to get your kebab on every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8pm, starting this week.
