Something has been happening in the suburbs of Sydney — particularly in the inner west.

Last year saw The Oxford Tavern open up (and become crowned winner of New Pub of the Year at the 2014 Bartender Magazine Australian Bar Awards); in recent months, we’ve seen Wayward Brewing open their brewery-cum-bar in Camperdown, Solotel launched the revamped Public House Petersham and now — also in Petersham — comes this renovated and renewed venue, West Village.

Entrepeneur James Bodel and Locky Paech (formerly of The Norfolk and The Forresters), are the duo behind new hospitality outfit, Goodtime Hospitality, responsible for West Village. They’ve taken what was once called The White Cocktaoo and given it an update, all while keeping heritage ceilings and orginal brickwork in place.

For drinking, you’ll be able to get your Negroni fix (they’ve got it on tap), plenty of craft beer, and an all-star Aussie wine list put together by Andrew Jamieson.
