Sydney small bar and whisky haven, Tokyo Bird, have announced that they’ve got a new venue on the way — Osaka Trading Co. The good news is you won’t have to wait too long — it’ll be open in late September.

The Surry Hills-based Tokyo Bird is a finalist in the Small Bar of the Year category at the Bartender Magazine Australian Bar Awards this year, and with good reason: the bar, lead by Yoshi Onishi, has the lure of not just a beautiful, intimate space, but loads of Japanese whisky, well-crafted cocktails and fine bar food by way of its yakitori.

(They’re also pretty expert at hand carving ice — take a look at Onishi’s how to guide here).

Osaka Trading Co will be their first fully fledged restaurant, but you’ll be sure to expect some top flight drinks along the way. They’re opening up at Sydney’s new Tramshed Harold Park development and you can expect modern Japanese food of the high standard set by Tokyo Bird.
