Some of the best drinking you can do is in small bars, and as the rise of these intimate drinking dens continues across the country, it’s time to check out some of Western Australia’s best small bars.

Put on each year by the Small Bar Association of WA (SBA), their 2016 Small Bar Awards seek to highlight some of the best operators in the state. The finalists in each of the four categories — Best Small Bar (Critics’ Choice), Best Small Bar (People’s Choice), Best New Small Bar, and Best Regional Small Bar — are voted for by their peers.

The Critics’ Choice category sees a number of food and drink writers having their say on the best small bars in WA, with Australian Bartender publisher David Spanton on the judging panel.

Voting is open now in the People’s Choice category — visit sbawa.com.au to cast your ballot for your favourite WA small bar now.

The winners in each category will be unveiled on Monday October 24 at special, industry-only event at The Flour Factory — check out the finalists below and stay tuned for the winners.
