Alchemists, and Behind Bars consultants Marco Nunes (QLD), Sean Baxter (VIC) and David Beatty (NSW) have recently been appointed as the 2009 Smirnoff Black Copper Cup ambassadors. All previous competitors in this challenging competition, theses ambassadors will provide mentorship to Copper Cup entrants in their state.

Dylan Eisenhut Crowned Australia’s Best Beer Pourer

On Wednesday 9 September, Dylan Eisenhut of Hugos Manly was crowned the Australian winner of the 2009 Stella Artois World Draught Masters competition, winning over $33,000 in prizes including the honour of representing Australia in the global final to be held in New York this October.

Tales of the Cocktail Awards Announced

Australian bars were overlooked at the 2009 Tales of the Cocktail awards held in New Orleans at the popular cocktail festival last week. Last year, Melbourne's 1806 was honoured with the prize for the World's Best Cocktail List but this year it was pipped by The Merchant Hotel of Belfast in Northern Ireland. This hotel also scored gongs for Best Hotel Bar and Best Drinks Selection.
