Cocktail All Stars – New York City

Described by New York Magazine as a veritable cocktailapalooza, Eben Freeman and Linden Pride are taking their “guerilla drinks festival”, known as ‘Cocktail All-Stars’ to New York next week.

Cocktail All-Stars kicked off in Asia last year and plans to visit cities around the globe every six weeks. Led by iconic bartender and The Guardian’s ‘Future of Alcohol’, Mr Eben Freeman and Sydney’s Linden Pride (the Mangkut Group), this NYC drinks love fest will feature mad-genius mixologists like Dave Arnold, young upstarts such as Death & Co.‘s Alex Day, and during the final night, a veritable who’s who of legends such as Dale DeGroff, David Wondrich, Gary Regan, and more.

So, it may be short notice, but here’s the schedule. If you’re in NYC, you should be there:

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8th
Cocktail All-Stars will kick off the series of events on Monday, February 8 with “Things
Eurasian: An Exploration of Ancient Flavors and Modern Science.” The event will feature a
blend of technology, intellect, and good hard booze, with many drinks served tableside at Public’s Monday Room. In support of the team will be FCI’s director of culinary technology Dave Arnold, Tony Conigliaro of London’s 69 Colebroke Row, and of course: hosts Eben Freeman and Michelin-starred chef Brad Farmerie.

Night: An Old-Fashioned Experience at PDT, voted World’s Best Cocktail Bar 2010. The event features only bartenders over 40 and some stringent rules to ease the pain on the more ‘experienced’ gents holding the bar spoons last night: no drink is allowed to have anything more than a sweetener, a base spirit, and one flavoring agent. The spotlight will be on brown, aged, high-end booze – expect lots of stirring, sipping, and stories. All-Stars include: author Gary Regan, Eben Freeman, writer and scholar Dave Wondrich, ‘King Cocktail’ Dale DeGroff, James Menite of Porterhouse, Tony C of London, author/barman Toby Cecchini, and more to come.
