With a fresh, new look for her venue, Cru54 Executive Chef and owner Catherine Andreo expects a revelation in the dining experience. With her mixed French/ Spanish heritage Andreo wants her guests to feel as if they have been transported to a different place.

“Diners can expect something a little different; more polished, creative and essentially more Spanish”, explains Andreo. “Cru54 is more than just a tapas bar – it’s a destination.” The fresh, straightforward style can be attributed to Andreo watching her mother and grandmother cooking in the kitchen. “As soon as I was able to reach the stove, I started to experiment,” Andreo states. She has not stopped since.

We are rewarded with a spin on traditional Spanish fare like caramelised goat cheese with onion compote, jamon croquette with romesco sauce, spicy eggplant empanada and tapenade or Spanish style anchovy on citris tomato and avocado salsa toast. Dessert is dangerously enticing with Valencia burnt orange and homemade lemon meringue matched to a 2007 Beauume de Venise Muscat. Yum!
