It looks like a budding food truck entrepreneur became disheartened and ditched their caravan in a Melbourne laneway. But take a closer look. There’s 5L kegs of Heineken and Little Creatures for sale, paella being served from the counter window cut into the caravan, a licence plate that reads “CHUCKIES”.
There’s a sense of warmth and humour coming from this little bar that sits outside New Guernica. Aperitifs and sangria is what is promised, and you can get into all this in a reclining position, laying back in the canvas chairs on the grass under the sun. Nice. The beer is all served in cans – which we suppose saves on cleaning – and there’s a short, quality list of spirits should you want to fortify that beer with something stronger.
