Louisiana BBQ planned above NSW’s best Guinness

Leeroy Petersen can now add the title of publican to his very crowded resume.

Petersen said that he’s been looking at pubs for some time, and had looked at a number of small pubs on the market. “You had to fully gut them to make anything a go with them,” he said. But then he found Durty Nellys in Paddington.

He doesn’t want to change much about the pub, with the plans for downstairs limited to a bit of work on the bathrooms, and the creation of a parlour lounge where he’ll be ”doing more of a whiskey theme back there,” he said.

And then he’s turning the upstairs restaurant into a “Louisiana barbecue smokehouse” joint. “We’re going to stick with just doing what Paddington needs,” said Petersen. “There’s nothing around here that’s just enticing anyone to come in and sit down without having to worry about anything else, but just having a good burger, good ribs, good chicken wings.” Expect completion of the project to happen in early 2014.
