Here’s how the Australian Bartender 200th issue party went down

On Tuesday night at Tio’s Cerveceria in Sydney’s Surry Hills, a packed house got together to celebrate the 200th issue of Australian Bartender.

200 issues is a big milestone for any magazine, and the team here at Bartender were proud to celebrate it with friends and supporters of the magazine from over the years.

There were cocktails from throughout the ages of the Australian cocktail renaissance on offer, from the Lotus Martini that was famous in the early 2000’s (and whipped up on the night by Lotus alum and Swillhouse owner Anton Forte), to the stick drink Caiprihina trend that Longrain launched more than a decade and a half ago (and punched out by Dan Knight on the night), to the more recent Death Flip from Chris Hysted-Adams of the Black Pearl.

The team at Australian Bartender would like to thank Alex, Jeremy, and the whole Tio’s team for hosting us on the night and making it a memorable evening — the team there are kicking goals. And a big thanks to our sponsors for the night: Bacardi, Chartreuse, De Kuyper, Jagermeister, Leblon, Olmeca Altos, Reyka, Sydney Beer Co., and Tequila Patron.

And lastly, a big thanks to you guys, the Australian bar community, for giving us such great stuff to write about over the last 200 issues.
