Southtrade names Patrick Tully as the first Australian Patrón Tequila ambassador

Southtrade International has today announced the appointment of Patrick Tully as the first Patrón Tequila ambassador for Australia.

Patrick steps into the newly created role with nearly 10 years of experience in the Australian hospitality industry. Having worked at and run some of the top bars and restaurants in the country, his focus has always been on sharing his love of fine food, spirits and wine with just about anyone who will listen.

He told Bartender Magazine, “At the end of the day, I blame my dad. I developed a taste for the finer things in life very early on, and have carried that passion through my whole career.”

Laura Thompson, Brand Manager – Patrón adds “we’re delighted to have Patrick join the Southtrade team given his fantastic experience and passion for the industry”

Patrick began his hospitality career in Brisbane where he worked at several of the top wine bars and restaurants before moving to Melbourne 7 years ago. There he took his first steps towards specialising in cocktails and spirits at bars like New Gold Mountain and Eau de Vie. He has most recently been talking all things spirits at Archie Rose Distillery after moving to Sydney early last year. An ambassador role seemed like the obvious next step.

“I can’t begin to say how excited I am to start with Patrón. It is such an iconic brand yet with so many untold stories on the production process and quality of the liquid, I can’t wait to share this with the trade.”

“There are some truly amazing things in the works and I’m honoured to be part of it.”

Patrick says he wants to focus on driving education on the brand and category as well as promoting more sustainable practices behind the bar. “It’s not often talked about, but the Patrón distillery in Jalisco is one of the most sustainable in the world. This quiet emphasis on doing well by doing good is something I want to help instil in Australian bars.”

Patrick calls the Australian bar scene one of the best in the world. “Despite my best efforts, there is still so much to see. I’m really looking forward to visiting some of these amazing venues around the country and supporting them with their tequila programs.”

Expect a visit from him soon.
