Ladies shake things up, taking out the winning titles

In its third year, The Perfect Blend Cocktail Competition, kicked off the 2018 State Finals in Perth at the Rosemount Hotel, North Perth.

10 Finalists took to the stage in front of a live audience of nearly 200 industry folk, competing for that trip of a lifetime for two bartenders to head to the land of Bourbon, Kentucky USA visiting the Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark distilleries and then heading across to Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans.

450 entries were submitted from bartenders across Australia and New Zealand in September last year, of what was their personal interpretation of a creation that ‘Celebrates an Occasion’, 79 finalists now have their final shot at greatness using some of the world’s best whiskies from the Beam Suntory portfolio.

‘Celebrate the Occasion’ was this year’s brief, and that they most certainly did! World Bartender Day celebrated our finalists to which each had to list their cocktail in their respective venues inviting consumers to share and enjoy their signature creations.

During competition day the finalists were put through their paces to complete a blind tasting, a product knowledge test and then the live performance.

Winning the Apprentice Category – and first time on the competition stage – was Emma Crisp from Bobeche and in the Professional Category Claudia Morgan aka Beryl from The Dominion League!

Emma and Claudia will now progress to the Grand Final later in the year to compete with the other lucky finalists from each regional final.
