Here’s the Australian winner of the MONIN Cup 2018

On Monday last week the Australian Championship of the MONIN Cup 2018 was held at Hilton’s Zeta Bar. The biannual MONIN bartender competition was created as a platform for young, up and coming bartenders to compete in an encouraging, creative and less intimidating environment. It provides an even playing field for bartenders who want to break into competition bartending, without having to go up against industry legends straight away.

“This year’s theme Mix Your Origins challenged young bartenders to let their creativity loose with native ingredients, local spirits and MONIN’s versatile and natural flavours,” said Saskia Armée, Brand Manager at Stuart Alexander & Co.

Winner Kelham Waterfield of The Duke of Clarence impressed judges with his skills and product knowledge. He will represent Australia at the Semi-Final in Kuala Lumpur in October and assist world renowned Japanese bartender Hidetsugu Ueno. The top three finalists from the Asia Pacific region will be sent to Paris to compete at the Global Final in December.
