A new series by Silvio Carta brings a breeze of Sardinian air to Australasia this summer

The history of Silvio Carta harks back to the early 1950s. After the conditions of the wild plants are rigorously inspected, they are picked up in wicker baskets to protect them from damage, and processed immediately upon arrival at the distillery when these natural ingredients at their freshest. Pigskin Pink Gin boasts an alluring rosy hue thanks to the infusion of myrtle and other berries after distillation. Fresh juniper berries grown along the coastline makes up the core of its flavour. These fruits are nurtured by the Mediterranean sun and mistral winds which give them a saline, mineral quality. Keep it in the cabinet for a boost of complexity in various cocktails. The Pigskin Pink Gin is available at $135 (recommended retail price).

Limonello Ricetta Originale, as implied by its name, is an original beverage created by Elio Carta in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Silvio Carta. Distinctive from other Italian lemon liqueurs using only lemon peel, Limonello is produced from up to 1.3kg of whole organic lemons per litre, freshly picked from the Carta estate. It’s best consumed chilled, fresh on ice or incorporated into cocktails and desserts, which is priced at $88 (recommended retail price).

The Carta Special Edition consists of eight of Silvio Carta’s best products, each coming in a 100ml bottle. The highlight of the collection is Giniu, the gin emblematic to the brand. Prized for its purity, it is created with solely fresh juniper berries from the Sardinian coast without any additional ingredient. Other bottles in this set includes Grappa di Vernaccia Invecchiata, Vermouth Bianco “Servito”, its sibling Vermouth Rosso di Sardegna, as well as Grifu Gin, Mirto Ricetta Storica, Liquore di Liquirizia and Limonello Ricetta Originale.
