What has four wheels, two floors, and tastes great? Winter is approaching, and that’s our favourite whisky drinking season here at Australian Bartender. And this year, to kick off the colder months, Glenfiddich has got a very special announcement: they’re launching The Glenfiddich Whisky Wanderer.

Just what is the Glenfiddich Whisky Wanderer you ask? Well, put simply: it’s a first-of-its-kind luxury whisky experience on wheels. To celebrate Glenfiddich’s pioneering family spirit and maverick attitude, the Glenfiddich Whisky Wanderer will bring people from all walks of life — consumers and the trade, whisky enthusiasts and whisky novices — on board for a taste of their maverick liquid, and to learn more about the storied history of Glenfiddich.

“This program is about honouring the brand heritage, whilst playing into the maverick spirit Glenfiddich has brought to the category,” says Glenfiddich Brand Ambassador, Luke Sanderson.

“For those looking to try their first single malt, the tour provides the ultimate immersive and memorable experience to give Blended Drinkers and Malt Explorers confidence to trial something new.”

Expect to see plenty of Sanderson on the Glenfiddich Whisky Wanderer, too, as Sanderson has embarked on a three year program which will see him travel more than 9,000km across the country, sharing his whisky expertise with bartenders and inquisitive mavericks.

Sanderson’s tour with the Whisky Wanderer will kick off celebrations at the Good Food & Wine Festivals with additional stops along the way. The Whisky Wanderer will bring a touch of the Scottish Highlands to Aussie shores, where visitors will be treated to intimate tastings, masterclasses, food pairings and exciting collaborations with like-minded mavericks’ from the drinks industry and beyond, providing the ideal experience for those who are either just beginning their whisky journey or those who are deep into their drams.

“There’s an undeniable and growing interest in whisky throughout Australia, so we wanted to bring a touch of the Glenfiddich distillery experience to Australia. The Whisky Wanderer is the perfect accompaniment for our wonderful liquid, and in true Glenfiddich style, we wanted to do something with a difference,” Sanderson says.

Aboard The Whisky Wanderer, bartenders can chat whisky with Sanderson and taste across a range of Glenfiddich malts, from the highly awarded flagship single malt, to Glenfiddich’s Experimental Series.

The Glenfiddich Whisky Wanderer was originally a 1970 vintage Leyland two storey bus. Sitting at over 4m tall and 10m long, it has been kitted out with a high-class premium bar, hydraulic pop-up roof and glinting copper stag’s head on the front.

Glenfiddich estimates that over 10,000 people will have the opportunity to engage with the bus throughout the year. As part of the tour, a new trade program will be brought to life, aiming to inspire bartenders’ ‘maverick mindset’ in their professional and personal life.
