Joshua Hampshire (Mesa Verde) was crowned the winner of the 2019 Inaugural Brooklyn Bel Air ‘Party Tartly’ Cocktail Cup
As the sun went down on a balmy summer day in December – Brooklyn Brewery’s first ever Australian Bel Air ‘Party Tartly’ Cocktail Cup culminated in a first of its kind Brooklyn Bel Air ‘Party Tartly’ Finale Event at Slim’s Rooftop Hyde Park House, featuring 70s inspired DJ sets, flamingos, party shirts and sweet Bel Air Creations.
A fresh take on Cocktail Comp – bartenders across VIC/NSW were invited to flex their mixology skills with a less than traditional ingredient – sour beer. Competitors were challenged to create an original Brooklyn Bel Air Sour ale cocktail using no more than five ingredients, then promote their Bel Air cocktail creation during the month of November in venue and online at #brooklynbelaircocktailcup for a chance to secure a money-can’t-buy Brooklyn experience.
The event featured a curated menu of drinks that featured cocktails from each of the ‘Party Tartly Cocktail Cup’ Top 6 finalists were whittled down from an initial field of more than 60 competition entrants. All 6 were in attendance and each of their Bel Air cocktails showcased to the appreciative crowd of party shirt clad Sydney trade and supporters.
The pinnacle of the evening was the announcement of the inaugural 2019 competition winner. Joshua Hampshire (Mesa Verde, VIC) took out the Bel Air Party Tartly Cup title narrowly beating runner up Julian Alphonso (Provincial, VIC). Joshua’s winning cocktail is called ‘Summer Fling’ – find the recipe here and try it out for yourself.
As the lucky winner, Joshua will receive a once-in-a-lifetime trip to New York City including flights, accommodation, a Brooklyn Brewery Tour, a Helicopter Tour of New York City, entry into the Brooklyn Bar Convent, and a $4,000 cash prize.

Place all ingredients bar beer into a Boston Shaker with Ice. Shake and double strain over fresh ice, top with Brooklyn sour and garnish with a fresh jalapeño.
