The hospitality industry as a whole is going through tough times, and despite packages announced by the various levels of government, there are many workers still in need of assistance.
It’s this problem that this initiative — HelpOutHospo — seeks to address.
HelpOutHospo is a portal through which consumers can pay a donation to watch videos in which chefs and bartenders teach the public how to put together their signature dishes and drinks, with that money going into a fund that will assist hospitality workers.
“This is all not for profit,” says industry veteran Jason Jelicich, founder of Barmetrix and a former most outstanding contribution award winner at the Bar Awards, who is driving the initiative. “All the sponsor dollars and revenues from videos sales are going back to the venues that submitted them,” he says.
So what do you have to do to get involved? Your venue gets in touch with HelpOutHospo — you can do that here — and they’ll work with you to get a video of your course online and available for the public to buy.
They’ve attracted some big brands to sponsor their work so far — Brown Forman and Campari among them — and have contributions already from high profile celebrity chefs like Luke Mangan and Matt Moran.
