Some 40-odd friends and family gathered — as we do these days — over Zoom, each with a Martini in hand, to farewell one of the giants of the Australian hospitality industry: Vernon Chalker.
Vernon passed away earlier this week, and was remembered by his family and those who were touched by his generous hospitality.
On the call were those closest to Vernon, his family; there were those who for Vernon, who got their start with Vernon, who were mentored and supported by Vernon.
Vernon Chalker was generous with hospitality and it shows.
We’ll be raising another couple of quality Martinis to Vernon tonight.
