Christmas will be arriving early this year as the team behind iconic cocktail bars Earl’s Juke Joint and Jacoby’s Tiki Bar are launching two exciting new venues on Enmore Road. This adds to the growing number of bars lining the street, making it the most exciting drinking hub since the iconic Kings Cross era.

Pasan Wijesena, Russell Martin, Sam Pinneri and Dan Hunt will be heading up each venue, and they will be bringing back several well-known industry faces to spearhead the project.

The Trocadero Room

The Trocadero Room will be a late-night live music venue that will cater to a broad range of musical and comedy acts with the odd international guest stopping by for a secret performance.

The inspiration behind the bar is Bar Lubitsch, a West Hollywood live music and vodka library that was inspired by a Russian filmmaker. Think big red curtains and leather seats, library lamps, and a very pricey sound system. The venue is purpose-built for totally unique entertainment experiences with an incredible lighting and sound setup that can be moved around the venue to accommodate the requirements of the act.

The Trocadero Room will be operating until 3am so expect it to be a fantastic late-night option for the area. Pasan says: “The bar is set so low for service in live music venues, we just want to elevate that.”

The menu will be agave-inspired, short, sharp, and built for speed of service, which is something where most live music venues fall short.

The Magpie

The Magpie is slated to open a month after the Trocadero Room and will be situated right next door, with an adjoining door connecting the venues.

The inspiration behind the venue is former Rugby League great Tommy Raudonikaus, the quintessential Aussie larrikin whose personality will no doubt be soaked through the timber of the bar top.

The pub will feature two televisions playing a variety of sports with one dedicated to classic 90s action films highlighting the golden age of Civic Video. “[The Magpie] will be a tiny sports bar celebrating all things Australiana with all the quirks,” says Wijesena.

They will be pouring Guinness and a top-secret brewery collaboration with the cocktail menu pointing towards the whisky category and a frozen Irish coffee to round it out. You can also expect some sparkling red wine like Lambrusco on the menu. It’s embracing nostalgic Australiana in a fun way and although the venue will be intimate and cozy, there will be plenty of space to grab a beer and pop good old Aussie lean.

The bar will operate from 12pm-12am, seven days a week.

Both bars are located at 156 Enmore Road, Enmore. For regular updates follow @trocaderoroom
