Cantina Group has opened its fifth Adelaide venue, No.6 East, a first-floor terrace bar overlooking Rymill Park.
Located at Level 1, 6 East Terrace, above Adelaide’s East End, No.6 East comes from the group behind Jennie, Malt & Juniper, Alfred’s and Bar Bar.
The venue is built around the ethos “Welcome Home,” with the idea that guests are being invited into someone’s home rather than simply visiting a bar.
Reached by a flight of stairs from East Terrace, the enclosed balcony has been designed as a private terrace, with mismatched but considered furniture, plants, eclectic artwork and objects collected throughout the space.
Venue manager and co-owner Lachy Harrison said the concept was inspired by his own favourite way to drink.
“My favourite place to drink has always been someone else’s house. So, when we started putting the concept together for No.6, and saw the character in this old 1920s building, it was a bit of a no-brainer,” said Harrison.
“No.6 is a venue that welcomes you home. Whether you’re out on the drinking terrace, around the dinner table or standing at the bar, you’ll always feel welcome at my place.”
That approach also extends to the way the venue will operate, with the team placing an emphasis on hosting over service. Staff are encouraged to offer rather than wait to be asked, with the aim of knowing guests by name by their second visit.
No.6 East sits directly across from the Garden of Unearthly Delights and will trade Wednesday to Saturday from 3pm until late, with extended hours planned throughout Adelaide Fringe and the summer season.
The venue will also be available for exclusive private hire.
No.6 East joins Cantina Group’s existing portfolio of Jennie, a pint-sized wine bar; Malt & Juniper, specialising in its namesake spirits; Alfred’s, a classic pub front bar with a modern twist; and Bar Bar, an agave-focused cocktail bar.
