Have you ever fallen in love with a drink at first sight? We sure did when it came to this Margarita recipe from Cantina OK! in Sydney.

Maybe it’s the addition of orange oil, or the blend of tequila and mezcal; we think, for us (true beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all) that it is the shaved ice they layer into the coupe.

It comes courtesy of a big iron mechanical ice shaver that dominates the tiny bar, giving their Margarita recipe little ice shards that refresh the drink as you down it.

As the reigning Tequila Bar of the Year, Cantina OK! has found that the public has been keen to broaden their horizons and eager to try something new.

“They come in and they’re just like open books — they’ll try whatever you recommend,” says bartender Ho Song (pictured above). “They’re happy to sit down and listen to what you have to say.”

Margarita OK!

  • 45 ml blanco tequila
  • 5 ml mezcal
  • 30 ml lime juice
  • 10 ml MONIN sugarcane syrup
  1. Shake all ingredients with ice.
  2. Strain into a coupe glass with crushed ice.
  3. Garnish with orange oil.
