With a new name and a renewed dedication to good times for a good cause, the former Parched March is back – as Bars March.
As Parched March 2013 heads into its third week, the good times are rolling and the Parched March cocktails are flowing at the unique Sydney charity bar odyssey’s 76 participating bars.
Bars, dogs, drinks and a month of good times for a good cause: Parched March has kicked off for its fourth year. Once again, Sydney’s bars have whole-heartedly supported the city’s annual charity bar odyssey, joining long-time supporters such as The Keystone Group and Hugo’s.

This time round $20,000 was raised for the Animal Welfare League (NSW) and Parched March founder, Amy Cooper, was thrilled at the outcome.”We’re thrilled to have doubled last year’s total,” Cooper said. “The support and enthusiasm we had from our participating bars this year was unprecedented. They created amazing drinks, put on exciting events and threw themselves into raising money for a very grateful Animal Welfare League NSW.”
Parched March, Sydney’s only month long celebration of bars and drinks is off to a flying start in 2011. The charity bar odyssey has upped the ante this year by finding all new ways for bars and punters alike to get involved, and the press has been paying attention. The idea has been embraced by the blogging community and mainstream press alike being featured in Sun Herald’s S section, Mx, Nine to Five magazine, The Agenda Daily, as well as 2SER and FBI radio

It’s not too late to be involved in the Parched March revolution! Join us as we celebrate the conclusion of this amazing journey, and experience for yourselves what we’ve discovered along the way. The Parched March Wrap Party will be held on Wednesday 31 March at Piano Room in Kings Cross from 7 – 10.00pm.
There’s just a week left of our 30 Bars in 30 Days odyssey, and as the journey approaches its end, I’m thinking our final lists will be as much about the bars we didn’t visit as the ones we managed to reach. 30 is a fraction of the bars this city has to offer, and as we hit the home straight, we keep hearing of new places popping up, exciting developments at old favourites and enough bar action to keep us going – well, all the way through to next March.
