We brought you the news late last year that the Perth duo behind Ezra Pound were working on a new venue. Well, Old Faithful opens this weekend, and co-owner Talmage Andersen has given us a little preview of the bar.
Located on King street in the CBD, they’re dishing up the big smoke flavours of the American South. Thanks to the smoker they’ve installed you can expect a feast of smoked, BBQ meats — and they’ve got the drinks to match.
Their cocktails are divided up into Old Fathful Originals, Classics with a Twist, and Jugs to Share.
“The drink menu as a whole is obviously designed to compliment those big smokey, sweet flavours of American BBQ,” said Andersen.
This approach is evident in their Black Daiquiri, which takes Goslings rum and lime and sweetens it with a Feral Brewing Smoked Porter syrup they make.
They’re also using another one of Feral Brewing’s beers, the Hop Hog, for a syrup in their Hopped Manhattan, along with bourbon and Causes & Cures Vermouth.
“We are working closely with Feral brewery,” said Andersen, “and their range of rotating products, and will only have beer on tap.”
