Jim Meehan, the bartender behind influential New York bar PDT (and who has a forthcoming cocktail book in the works), has put out a cocktail app we think will find a home in many a bartender’s pockets.
The app, PDT Cocktails, boasts some 400 recipes covering PDT creations (the most emblematic of which, like the Benton’s Old Fashioned, have become modern classics) and classic drinks that the team at PDT has worked on and updated over the years.
You’ll also find within the app 69 recipes for in-house PDT ingredients, and they include a profile on the ingredients used and information about them.
Each recipe comes complete with shiny photograph (which helps in the whole, “is-it-meant-to-look-that-department?”) and you can search by base spirit, cocktail type, and creator. And for those of us who have moved out of the dark ages and into the metric system (come on, America), there’s the option of viewing the recipes in metric.
If you’ve already got the PDT Cocktail Book — and let’s face it, you ought to — you’ll be pleased to know that the app has further refinements on the recipes within the book.
