Veteran bartender and the former long-serving general manager of award-winning The Gresham, Ryan Lane, opened his first venue in Brisbane a few months back.
Lane is the spirituous part of the Proof BBQ & Booze equation, having joined forces with former beer rep turned barbecue devotee, Michael Cameron.
Cameron has developed quite a rep for his BBQ — we’ve heard nothing but great reports coming down from Brisneyland — and he is also the owner of Meat Me BBQ, a catering company specialising in the smoky barbecue arts.
It’s a laidback affair at Proof BBQ & Booze, the focus being on the bourbon and the meats and in the delivery of some old fashioned hospitality.
With the tagline of ‘meat by the pound, whiskey by the drink,” the pair have created a haven for those enlightened individuals among us who understand that barbecued meats belong with a beautiful glass of bourbon.
