Bombies brings 70s nostalgia to Freshwater’s Harbord Hotel rooftop

Perched above Freshwater Beach, Bombies is the latest addition to the Harbord Hotel – a 70s-inspired rooftop bar and music destination from the Epochal Hotel group, led by Glenn Piper. Backed by Alexander & Co, and designer Jeremy Bull, the former caretaker’s residence now stands as a sun-drenched space, offering surf nostalgia, with serious hospitality energy.

The drinks menu leads the charge, with options including: the Bombora – blending Patrón, pineapple acid and orange. Craving a juniper forward sip? The Piper Perch features Brookie’s Slow Gin, hibiscus, and bitters, finally the Pico de Mango hits strong with Grey Goose and tropical flair.

Glenn Piper, CEO of Epochal Hotels says Bombies is more than just a bar – it’s a feeling.

“It’s like stepping into a friend’s beach house where the night unfolds effortlessly – live music, cold drinks and an electric energy that just clicks. Whether it’s post-surf beers, sunset sessions, or a late-night dance floor moment, Bombies is where the best nights just happen,” said Piper.

The food is tight, concise, and created to pair alongside the curated cocktail menu – from mortadella skewers with buffalo curd and pickled peppers, to spiced prawn tacos, crab sambos, and a fully loaded schnitzel club.

As the sun sets Bombies transforms into a late-night live music and entertainment venue. The opening weekend’s After Dark Club on 5–8 June, will feature acts from Keli Holiday and DJ Tommy Trash, as well as a massive drinks lineup, body art, DJ sets, tattoo flash sessions, and fortune tellers.

With murals by Ash Holmes, Paul McNeil, and Tiarna Herczeg, and a recording studio set to open in 2025, Bombies is dedicated in becoming Harbord’s next creative and cultural chapter.
