Michael and Zara Madrusan lead the charge at new vinyl-driven venue LB’s Record Bar

LB’s Record Bar has pressed play on Meyers Place in Melbourne, with Michael and Zara Madrusan leading the charge at this new vinyl-driven venue. The pair have taken on the site with a tight brief – sharp drinks, a clear music identity, and a room that keeps people in for hours.

The space keeps its original horseshoe bar front and centre, wrapped in warm colours, carpet, mirror balls, vintage records and custom speakers. It’s retro without seeming like its cosplay décor.

The Madrusans have built the heartbeat of the place around a vinyl-only music program. Every record has been sourced from local independent stores, and the booth will host a rotating lineup of Melbourne DJs and artists.

On the drinks front, the bar leans heavily into agave drinking, pushing modern classics and clean profiles. The Dancefloor Martini arrives aerated, while the Daiquiri lineup lands on finely shaved ‘snow’. Ice is treated as an ingredient, not an afterthought, with everything from hand-cut clear blocks to the Daiquiri Snow Cone playing a role.

The food menu is tight and concise, with a Spanish-leaning snack menu from Melbourne-based Executive Chef Jowett Yu, with offerings from charcuterie to potato fritas, the menu leans into simple, and salty flavours – exactly what you want next to a cocktail.

For the Madrusans, stepping into Meyers Place hits close to home. “We’ve always had a love for Meyers Place so to be finally opening the doors to LB’s feels surreal,” they said. “Bringing this iconic space back to life with the help of some incredible talent from The Everleigh and Bar Margaux has been incredible and we can’t wait for people to experience it.”
