Halloween at The Rocks showcases a mix of heritage charm and shadowy laneways that seem purpose-built for a little after-dark mischief. This year, the historic precinct turns up the theatrics again, with two of its most atmospheric bars, The Doss House and Frank Mac’s, teaming up for a limited-time experience that blurs the line between cocktail artistry and haunted storytelling.
Running from 24 October to 2 November, “Trick or Treat” invites guests into a world of candlelight, mystery, and peat smoke. Each cocktail has been meticulously crafted by mixologist Dan Strahand who features six theatrically served cocktails.
There are three Tricks and three Treats, designed to surprise the senses. Expect unexpected pairings, and a touch of theatre in every pour. Highlights include The Old Haunt – with a mix of Smokehead whisky, Guinness, and blackberry cordial, inspired by the Celtic origins of Halloween – and The Blood Moon Sour, layered with a floating mulled wine top that shifts colour like a lunar eclipse.
This is one of the many events that captures what makes The Rocks so magnetic this time of year: heritage buildings, hidden basements, and that unmistakable feeling that something exciting might be lurking around the corner.
