The Malaya has quietly flicked the switch on Terrace Bar, a 60-seat, open-air hideout perched at Grosvenor Place and built for the 3–6pm crowd. It’s a simple proposition – full table service, skyline views, and a drinks list that takes inspiration from the restaurant’s Southeast Asian DNA.
The cocktails do the heavy lifting here with signatures including: The Penang Colada, taking the beachy classic, and sharpening it with kaffir lime, ginger, and chilli oil. The Mandarin Spritz leans lighter, folding mandarin, sherry, and Thai basil into something crisp and aromatic. If you want something cleaner but still layered, the Limau Highball runs with melon, green tea and makrut lime through fingerlime vodka for a bright, long pour. And then there’s the Assam Boy – a herb-packed, green-apple, lemongrass, and Vietnamese mint hit with just enough chilli to keep pace with the bar snacks.
Food at Terrace Bar is all about grazing. Satay chicken skewers arrive charred, sambal-baked scallops carry the heat, and the spring rolls and roti with lemak sauce are also on offer for more something a bit more substantial.
Bookings are open a few days ahead (weather permitting), but walk-ins are always welcome.
