Sydney’s oldest lift is pouring cocktails again this Easter

Inside InterContinental Sydney, the Lift Bar is back for a limited Easter run, operating inside the oldest working lift in the Southern Hemisphere. From 4 March to 4 April (Wednesday to Saturday, 5–8pm), the moving bar becomes a two-stage drinks experience: one cocktail and bite in the lift, followed by a second serve and dessert in The Treasury Bar.

The building began life in 1851 as Sydney’s first purpose-built government office, long before it became a hotel, and its original lift has been kept in working order since the property’s transformation in 1985 and still carries guests today.

The experience opens with the Colomba Mini Martini, inspired by Italian Easter cake, mixing Four Pillars Gin Yuzu Gin, Mancino Sakura, roasted almond, honey peach mead and orange blossom, paired with The Easter Hare: brioche with smoked salmon, goat’s cheese, and carrot fronds.

Guests then move to The Treasury Bar for Chocolate Bloom On The Rocks, built on Remy Martin VSOP Cognac with lemon curd, raspberry and chocolate liqueur, served with the Treasury Chocolate Nest (single-origin dark chocolate, wattle seed, passionfruit coulis and golden eggs).

A tight, time-bound experience built around a real piece of Sydney history, still doing the job it was built to do. Tickets and bookings are required.
