Melbourne bar The Everleigh undergone a major revamp of the interior of the bar, which, whilst maintaining the elegant feel to the place, has now made the bar more appealing to those who want to sit right in the middle of the action.
“We’re absolutely ecstatic winning an award in a category like this!” says Black Pearl’s Chris Hysted-Adams, who was in New Orleans with fellow Black Pearl bartender Nathan Beasley.
The Gresham, two-time winning Bar of the Year at the Bartender Magazine Australian Bar Awards, is creating a bar within its walls called The Drawing Room.
The first thing you’ll notice when you encounter Deathproof is the art on the walls. The bar functions as part bar, part art space, and is the first bar for owners Anthony Calligeros and Artis Steen Jones.
We’re driving single file, the five of us, up and down the sand hills in the desert 15 minutes outside of Las Vegas, the only thing separating us from injury is the battered and beaten roll cage of the dune buggies were throttling, trying to keep pace with our guide. Above us, a clear blue sky lets the sun in, burning up the ground below us; in the distance, the hotels and towers of the Las Vegas Strip stretch into the sky. We hit one steep dune, and Joey — it’s always Joey — launches his buggy into the air, diving out of sight behind the sand…
Martin Lange, who you may know from Brisbane bar, Cobbler, has opened Savile Row with business partners Trent Goodwin and Kahn Mills. They’re stocking the bar well, with some 900 bottles on the back bar. Stairs take customers up and around the bar, to booth seating and spaces for couples, all of which look down on the bar below.
