The Angostura Global Cocktail Challenge keeps rolling on throughout Australia, with the Victorian heat being held last (Monday) night.
The Black Pearl’s Evan Stanley came out on top of a pool of rum-pushing talent that included second place-getter Joshua Crawford (Eau de Vie Melbourne) and third place, Peter Nguyen.
Sydney bar Vasco’s head bartender, Luke Ashton, took out the Diageo World Class competition last week and doing so secured $100k towards the opening of his own bar.
Ashton beat competitors from all over the country in the multi-round competition, inlcuding second place’s Evan Stanley (The Black Pearl), and Rinna Kato (Bacchus) who finished in third.
The Ketel One Hundred Club is a new initiative by the luxury Dutch vodka brand that has been formed of 10 bartenders from each of the 10 key Ketel One markets around the world. In Australia, Diageo’s Reserve Brands invited the top entrants from the World Class Vodka Martini Awards to join.
