Boom Boom Room is returning to the basement beneath Elizabeth Street in Brisbane, reopening on Friday 6 March with a new late-night structure built around cocktails, music, and live performance. The underground venue from Ghanem Group Hospitality has been closed for a short break and now relaunches with a supper club format that moves from early evening dining into a late-night cocktail bar with DJs and live acts running well past midnight.
The drinks list is front and centre. Cocktails are split into music-inspired categories, with “Bold & Boozy” serves referencing rock and rhythm icons. One of the signatures, Fire Starter, mixes Grey Goose with mandarin, verjuice, and thyme. The “Fun & Funk” section leans lighter and more playful, including “Feel Good” with umeshu, jasmine, plum, and lemon. Meanwhile, the “Sour & Zesty” lineup nods to pop stars like Beyoncé and Rihanna, with Rude Boy combining Patrón Reposado, lime citrate, strawberry, and Champagne granita with orange zest.
“The new Boom Boom Room is designed for guests who want something more immersive than a bar and more personal than a nightclub – a multi-dimensional music experience layered with exceptional dining,” says Ghanem Group Music and Entertainment Manager Michael Watt. “We’ve curated an evening that evolves naturally, feels vibrant and distinctly Boom Boom Room.”
Food plays a supporting role, with a menu of modern Asian plates designed for sharing and late-night grazing. Dishes draw on street food influences from Japan, China, Vietnam, Thailand, and Korea, with snacks like soft shell crab bao and yakitori skewers sitting alongside larger plates including curries and BBQ seafood.
“We’ve taken everything our guests love about Boom Boom Room and elevated it,” says Head Chef Lyndon Tyers. “This isn’t a small change – it’s a full transformation. Modern Asian Street food energy meets supper club sophistication, delivered with a bigger boom.”
The space itself leans fully into the venue’s underground nightlife identity. Thursdays introduce vinyl-led listening sessions for after-work drinks, while Fridays and Saturdays begin with relaxed DJ sets before moving into soul and jazz performances, burlesque shows, and a late-night DJ finale. Part supper club, part cocktail bar, and firmly aimed at the after-dark crowd.
