Speed Rack, the women+ bartending competition that has become a global force for change in hospitality, is returning to Sydney for the Australian Final at Oxford Art Factory on Sunday, 19 October 2025 at 7pm.
Launched in New York in 2011 by industry icons Ivy Mix and Lynnette Marrero, Speed Rack was created to celebrate and elevate women and femme-identifying bartenders in an industry long dominated by men. Since then, the competition has grown into an international movement, combining fierce, high-energy bartending battles with advocacy, professional development, and fundraising for breast cancer research.
This year, William Grant and Sons Australia is proud to have brought the internationally acclaimed competition back to Australian shores, marking a major milestone for gender equity and visibility in the hospitality industry. Across the country, bartenders have battled it out in state heats across June and July, with the winner and runner-up from each city advancing to Sydney for the national final in October.
In addition to spotlighting talent, Speed Rack Australia is raising funds for breast cancer research, with all ticket proceeds going directly to Tour de Cure to help fund breakthrough breast cancer research projects.
To date, this year’s Australian state rounds have already raised over $10,000, underscoring the industry’s commitment to making change both behind and beyond the bar. “Speed Rack has always been about more than making drinks fast; it’s about creating a platform for female bartenders to be seen, celebrated, and supported,” said Jonathan Sully, Head of Marketing at William Grant & Sons Australia. “It’s also about giving back – and we’re thrilled that this year’s finals will raise money for such an important cause.”
