The Bartender Magazine Australian Bar Awards is done for another year. 2018 was the 18th instalment of what is the Oscars of the bar industry, and some 40-odd awards were handed out on the evening recognising the outstanding achievements of the country’s best bars, bar operators, and bartenders.

People came from all over the country, and around the world to celebrate Bar Week which has become a fixture on the international bar industry calendar.
We’re now into the fifth and final day of Sydney Bar Week but before we wrap things up completely, let’s look back at all the action from yesterday… yep, Day 4 of Bar Week was a monster that kicked off the the Business of Bars Conference at Restaurant Hubert and culminated with the flagship event of the week – the 18th Annual Bartender Magazine Bar Awards.
The Bartender Magazine Australian Bar Awards were announced last night at Doltone House with the first woman crowned Bartender of the Year!
Sydney Bar Week Day 3 is now done and dusted. There were eight events around the city including a gruelling stage 1 & 2 of the Bartender of the Year Competition sponsored by Bacardi & De Kuyper. Folks also learnt about fermentation, listened to some bagpipes and joined Jagermeister’s bartending club.
Day 2 of Sydney Bar Week was massive with six events running from 10.30am until 2am on Monday morning. If you managed it all, you deserve some kind of trophy for your stamina or at least a Berocca or two and a Bloody Mary.
