A suburban Italian joint, brought to you by Jacob Goss, the man behind the Rum Diary bars

English expat, Jacob Goss had definitely made himself at home here in Australia. He knew he wanted to be a bar owner, and waited patiently until the chance to purchase Rum Diary in Melbourne came along. Then, during COVID he opened Rum Diary Newcastle. And now he’s at it again. An opportunity came up to get involved in a suburban restaurant in Moonee Ponds and he jumped at the chance. Hot on the heels of opening, we checked in with Jacob to catch up on the new venue and how it all came to be.

Dave Spanton set to open second venue in Kings Cross

Spanton Hospitality, the team that brought you Piccolo Bar in Kings Cross, Australian Bartender mag and Sydney Bar Week have announced that they will be opening Vermuteria, a second venue in Kings Cross in January 2023, after successfully securing a liquor license for the premises, the former Café Hernandez on Kings Cross Road, last week.

Maybe Group to add fifth bar to their portfolio with El Primo Sanchez in Paddington

The Maybe Group and Public Hospitality are joining forces to launch Mexican bar El Primo Sanchez in Paddington’s The Rose Hotel this December. The partnership involves the bar occupying the ground floor of the Paddington pub The Rose Hotel, which was recently purchased by Public Hospitality Group, headed by up-and-coming hotelier John Adgemis.

She started working in restaurants at home in France, but got properly interested in the industry once she arrived in Melbourne in 2017.
