Maybe Group to add fifth bar to their portfolio with El Primo Sanchez in Paddington

The Maybe Group and Public Hospitality are joining forces to launch Mexican bar El Primo Sanchez in Paddington’s The Rose Hotel this December. The partnership involves the bar occupying the ground floor of the Paddington pub The Rose Hotel, which was recently purchased by Public Hospitality Group, headed by up-and-coming hotelier John Adgemis.

This will be the fifth venue of The Maybe Group, with the new Mexican-themed joint joining the four other venues within The Maybe Group – Maybe Sammy, Dean & Nancy on 22, Sammy Junior and Maybe Frank.

El Primo Sanchez will be all about cocktails will be served in traditional handmade clay jarrito jugs while Mexican and Latino produce will shine through each of the drinks. There will also be a decent selection of agave spirits. The food menu will skew more traditional Mexican than contemporary, ranging from lighter snacks like tacos through to more substantial but still informal dishes.

Public Hospitality purchased the formerly idle Rose, Shamrock & Thistle in 2021 and thoroughly refurbished the venue since that time, renaming it The Rose Hotel. They also purchased and renovated the neighbouring property which they have refurbed and launched as The Oxford House. This new 65-room boutique hotel features a poolside bar. The group owns 15 hotels including the recently acquired Lady Hampshire Hotel in Camperdown for $11 million, and the Empire Hotel in Annandale.

“We love what Public Hospitality do with their venues and it’s been fun working with Anna and the team so we can’t wait to bring El Primo Sanchez to life with them. You can still expect the same high level of hospitality, playful energy, brilliant cocktails and attention to detail as our other bars. It will just be wrapped up into a Mexican environment with more of a laidback pub vibe than a high-end cocktail bar,” said Vince Lombardo, co-founder, The Maybe Group .

El Primo Sanchez will complement our newly opened lifestyle hotel, Oxford House and add further energy to Oxford Street.”
