NSW Premier announces lockouts

The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that Premier Barry O’Farrell has announced tough new measures aimed at reducing alcohol violence in Sydney’s CBD. You can read the article by clicking here, below is a summary of some key points.

– Pubs and clubs will be forced to adopt 1:30am lockouts and to cease alcohol trading by 3am.

– Restaurants and small bars will be exempt form the measures

– New risk-based licensing fees, annually

– according to the SMH, the measures “will apply to venues within the CBD alcohol precinct, which runs along George Street between Druitt and Hay streets and include sections of Liverpool Street and Goulburn Street.”
