Agave Love — the biggest gathering of tequila and mezcal heavyweights to ever gather in the southern hemisphere — starts this Sunday. If you’re a bartender with even a passing interest in agave spirits, this event is not to be missed.

Organiser Phil Bayly — he of Cafe Pacifico and tequila legend fame — has lined up a number of international speakers to present, such as Tomas Estes (Tequila Ambassador to Europe), Julio Bermejo (Tequila Ambassador to USA), David Suro (Tequila Interchange Project), Dr. Ivan Saldaña (Author of The Anatomy of Mezcal), Marco Ochoa (La Mezcaloteca-Oaxaca), Esteban Morales (400 Coñejos-Guadalajara), Jacob Lustig (Real de Minas distillery in Oaxaca), Naren Young (bartender, drinks writer and former editor of Australian Bartender)and Phil Ward (Mayahuel NYC), to speak on a number of topics over the course of this Sunday and Monday as well as a host of other presenters.

There will be tastings, talks and masterclasses — along with some Agave Love-fuelled parties — at six Sydney venues around Oxford street (Casoni, Low302, Hello Sailor, Shady Pines Saloon and The Winery) and at Mr Moustache in Bondi. If you haven’t yet booked tickets to some of the great events, now is the time!
