Tio’s to host Mezcal March — & a Mezcal Mini Fest

Surry Hills bar, Tio’s Cerveceria, has long been known for fine agave distillates and good times. Now this month, in response to a growing interest in all things mezcal, they’re putting on Mescal March — and they’re hosting the first Mezcal Mini Fest on Sunday 27 March.

Take a look at the information below, but suffice it to say that come Sunday March 27, there will be a number of small mescal producers available at a free tasting and roundtable to be held at Tio’s.

The inaugural Mezcal Mini Fest comes to Tio’s from the palenques of rural Mexico on Sunday 27 March. Playing host to a roundtable discussion and in-depth tasting, celebrate the end of Mezcal March at Tio’s with this ‘spirited’ fi nale full of the cocktails and signature serves featured throughout Mezcal march.

Showcasing the most delicious mezcals in the world, Australia’s best agave importers will join together to celebrate one of the world’s most rare and mysterious spirits. Featuring agave distillates drawn from a 30-year process, the inaugural MMF presents this oft-misunderstood spirit in its prime condition.

With over 100 brands currently exporting and the category growing at 22% per year, Mezcal has hit a new international peak, proving a major driver of growth in marginalised rural communities. Not only are the species of agave diversifying – with over 30 currently represented.

Offering a rare opportunity to taste some truly unique juice as a cocktail or a signature serve and discuss all things agave with some of the most knowledgable mezcal brains in the country, Tio’s will be ground zero of Sydney’s first Mezcal Mini Fest. One half mezcal exposé, one half party, the formalities will give way to food, drink and, inevitably, a tonne of mezcal.
