This is a new and impressive venue that’s being headed up by Andrew McConnell (co-owner Cumulus Inc and Cutler & Co). Golden Fields “offers a personal interpretation [my] favourite Asian eating experiences,” states McConnell. “I have been influenced by my time living in China but also through extensive travel in Asia – particularly Japan.” Combining his affinity for Asian cuisine with a well thought through selection of drinks, Golden Fields is sure to be a place to stop and enjoy a great gastronomic experience.

The wines by the glass should give you enough to tickle your fancy; there’s Gavi from Piedmont, Chablis, some Aussie riesling and a nice looking Rhone red that’ll be sure to warm you up. The cocktails are sharp and smart. Try the Big Boss Impressionist; Martin Millers Gin, Lillet and Orange blossom or perhaps the Mother’s Ruin Punch that serves four; Tanqueray Gin, tea-infused sweet vermouth, fresh lemon and grapefruit juice and topped with some Kreglinger sparkling wine for an added mousseux.

The venue was designed by the Melbourne based architectural firm Projects of Imagination. “[The venue] came together through a collaboration of ideas from artists, designers and specialist trades people,” says McConnell, “the result is that every element of Golden Fields is clever and considered.”
