By its site in Sydney’s Woollahra precinct alone, Chiswick is certainly a destination spot for people in the know. From early reports too, everything on offer is proving its worth and the venue is securing itself a solid reputation.  Owners Matt Moran and Peter Sullivan have created a venue that is open and airy, with rich timber finishes and a authentic crispness that comes with clean white tiles. The seasonally focused menu offers treats like Small Plates of Spanish mackerel with pickled garden vegetables and coriander; Mains such as Mushroom risotto with broad beans and oregano or To Share dishes like Pearl Onions and Ale Pie. The wine list – put together by Matt Dunn – is pretty smart and there is enough to keep you more than interested. For a group (a great way to enjoy Chiswick) grab a few of the following: Mader Pinot Gris (Alsace, France), Clemens Busch ‘Kabinett’ Riesling (Mosel, Germany), Barbera d’Alba ‘Donna Margherita’ (Piedmont, Italy) and some Bowen Cabernet Blend, (Coonawarra, South Australia). Maybe a seriously dry Aussie white too, if there’s a groundswell of anti-sweetness revolutionaries.
