WA’s best small bars have been announced

Varnish on King won the Critics’ Choice award.

The Small Bar Association of WA held their annual Small Bar of the Year awards at The Flour Factory in Perth last night.

Varnish on King won the coveted Small Bar of the Year Critics’ Choice Award on the evening, a category which saw three drinks industry media critics — including Australian Bartender publisher David Spanton — rating the finalists for the award.

The award for Best Regional Small Bar — a new addition to the proceedings this year — went to Mandurah’s Oyster Bar, whilst the title of New Small Bar of the Year went to Perth bar Alfred’s.

The popular Small Bar of the Year Peoples’ Choice Award, which saw the public vote online for their favourite small bar, was awarded to longstanding Perth small bar, Helvetica.

The team from Helvetica won the Peoples’ Choice award.
